We had a time at Casino Nova Scotia in Halifax Sunday night. It was New Year’s Eve and Canadian music icon Tom Cochrane rocked in the new year big time.

DOUBLE SHOT OF TOM
Tom Cochrane played not one, but two shows on the night to usher in 2018 in a huge way. The eight time Juno award winning Cochrane brought the house down with all the great hits from his Red Rider days and beyond into his solo years. After about 40 years of playing live music, the man has cemented his place in the hearts of all music fans in Canada, and around the world. Cochrane is such a gifted performer and the crowd in Halifax embraced the man, his band, the music and the entire night of rock and roll.
ALL THE HITS
The hits just flowed from Tom and the band throughout the night. Songs like Big League, No Regrets, Boy Inside The Man, Sinking Like A Sunset. It just went on and on. Tom did a few songs by himself as well which was a special treat. And then, the Casino Nova Scotia crowd erupted and rushed the stage when the band tore into Life Is A Highway. Such an amazing show and incredible energy for this one. And it wasn’t just the music.
Tom Cochrane has a way to relate the stories of his music and his life between songs that really draws you in and creates such an intimate experience for everyone. We heard about his friend Bobby Orr when they played Big League, and how the fact that the Sears Company going out of business might be related to the fact that he and people like him used to work there. Good laughs for sure.

LAUGHS AND TEARS
During Life Is A Highway, Cochrane was showing how he rides his high handle bar motorcycle down the open road. He’s got a great sense of humour and is such a pleasure to watch him ply his craft on stage. So smooth. The consummate professional. And there was a more sincere and tender moment when he told the audience that he’s not a crying man, but he definitely did the day he heard Leonard Cohen had passed away. And then he played Cohen’s Bird On A Wire. There were more stories and songs, but we want to leave the rest for all the people who still are going to see Tom play soon. We can guarantee one thing, you will be entertained!

Thank you to Tom Cochrane and his team, and Casino Nova Scotia for having The Rock Source out. It was an amazing way to ring in, or is that rock into the new year. Happy 2018 to you all!
